Cardamom (Elettaria cardamomum) is one of the world's oldest spices. The plant is a member of the Zingiberaceae family, which includes ginger and turmeric. The cardamom pod contains small, black/brown seeds, which are used to make the spice known as the Queen of Spices.
Chopped and sifted organic cardamom is a completely natural, aromatic herbal spice that contains both the pod shell and the seeds. It is made by breaking whole, dried cardamom pods into small pieces. Granules can be added to sweet and savory dishes to provide a citrusy-sweet taste and floral aroma. After boiling, chopped and sieved cardamom can be used to make a fragrant tea with a sweet, spicy and floral aroma and taste.
