Our organic shiitake powder is a pale brown, fine powder made from the fruiting body of the shiitake mushroom, also known as Lentinus edodes. The mushroom bodies are harvested, dried, granulated and then ground into a fine powder. The shiitake mushroom is native to East Asia and is one of the most commonly cultivated mushrooms in the world, the Japanese shii referring to the tree around which it first grew.
Shiitake, which has been consumed medicinally in Asia for centuries, is rich in polysaccharides (our variety is 3%) and other controlled bioactive compounds, which are probably responsible for many of its health benefits.
Shiitake contains lentinan, a polysaccharide extracted from Lentinula edodes and used in dietary supplements. It also contains β-glucan, a major bioactive component. This mushroom is now also revered for its culinary properties.
It is certified to EU organic standards under Regulation (EU) 2018/848 and the Soil Association's British Organic Standards code GBORG-05.
It can be taken easily and practically in the capsule version.

PESTICIDES
This product complies with the requirements outlined in Regulation (EU) No. 2018/848 (and consecutive amendments). It also complies with Soil Association strict organic farming standards. During the manufacturing process the product and the packaging materials are not exposed to pesticides or pesticide residues. Pesticides are not stored on site, nor used in the manufacturing or warehousing areas.
IRRADIATION AND ETHYLENE OXIDE
We declare that the product listed above is not treated with ionizing radiation (r2) or ethylene oxide (EtO) for any purposes and as such are free of gamma ray and ethylene oxide residue and complies with the EU regulation 1999/3/EC
