A completely natural, aromatic herbal tea can be made from chopped and sieved organic turmeric. The turmeric used contains at least 2% curcumin, its botanical name is Curcuma Longa - a plant belonging to the ginger Zingiberaceae family. It is a plant native to Southeast Asia that is cultivated in this region, primarily in India. Although turmeric is available fresh and dried, the spiciness comes from the dried roots of the plant. It is the underground stem (the rhizome) that is often used in culinary spices, herbal cosmetics and traditional medicine.
Our chopped and sifted turmeric is made from whole, organic, fresh turmeric rhizomes. Slice, dry and crush into dark orange-yellow granules. By scalding the granules with water, chopped and sieved turmeric can be used to make an herbal tea with an earthy aroma, bitter and bold taste. Another possibility of use is to add it to salty dishes as a flavoring.
